Agent Academy: What to Look For When Hiring a Team Agent
On this episode of Agent Academy, I’m telling you the four things that we look for that make a strong team agent.
What makes a strong team agent? Many people experience a lot of fall out and ability to retain the right people. You may get a couple hits, but they don’t stick.
We’ve identified four character traits that we screen for above anything else. If you look for these four characteristics in new team members you will find great success at finding and retaining great talent on your team.
The first thing we look for in a new Team Member is GRIT. Are they willing to work through the challenges and problems?
It’s impossible for there not to be problems in this industry because there are too many human beings involved, this is a human business. Grit is what is going to get this new member/agent through a lot of the issues.
Next, we look for people with a strong WORK MOTOR. Work Motor, meaning, do they like to go fast, are they willing to put in a long day then get up and go again?
Lazy people and people that want to take it easy don’t do well in Real Estate. They need to have the Work Motor it takes to win the game.
Real Estate is a highly competitive business and without a strong Work Motor, they won’t make it.
The third thing we look for is CURIOSITY. People that are Curious make great salespeople because they ask a lot of questions and are learning-based.
Curious people tend to not just be sitting there idle, but rather continuing their growth path and learning. They also get interested in other people, and clients like when their agent is interested in them. This allows the agent to position himself at a higher standard.
One of the last things we look for is SMART and INTELLIGENT people. These types of people tend to find ways to answer their own questions or use google.
Smart folks understand that your time is valuable and will use anytime they have with you wisely.
In conclusion, you want Smart, Curious, high Work Motor, and Gritty people. These are the four things we screen for when we are looking for people to join our team.
I guarantee that if you start paying attention to those four things you will also start seeing a higher caliber, better-suited, and stronger salespeople to join your team and you will have better retention.
You must be able to add enough value because these people are going to want to move fast and they are seeking the best opportunity.
