This is where I get to explain all the things that I have accomplished in my life and the reason I am here today…all things you could probably care less about and skim right through, but I am going to tell you anyway.
I live a very active and healthy life of fun, travel, and the outdoors. I have 2 grown children with huge hearts who can be a bit wild, but I love them anyway. I was raised on real estate, but always had the focus and commitment to support organizations in their number one initiative, growth!
I understand the struggles of a real estate agent trying to break out and make it big. I know that even growth can be painful when you don’t have systems that are scalable.
If only I had been told 11 years ago that being a great real estate agent wouldn’t automatically translate into knowing how to build and structure a team that runs like a true business and is highly profitable, I may have been able to avoid years of frustration, struggle, and losing hundreds of thousands of dollars while building a highly flawed team then repeating the same mistake a second time.
I started my “Residential Real Estate Sales” career in 1987 by going to work for my Mom’s tiny little real estate company.
On day one she handed me the phone book and said, “Go to the yellow pages, look up taverns, start calling and ask if they want to sell.” Fair enough, so the first tavern was “B&S Express” in Federal Way, Washington. The owner said yes, I took the listing, ran an ad that weekend, and sold it the next week. Owner contract, close in a couple weeks and I collected a $13,000 check!
My 21-year-old brain translated that to mean, “You’ll make $156,000(simple math of that one commission x 12 months = $156,000) in your first year and get rich really fast if you make a couple of calls from the yellow pages…”
The problem was, I didn’t prospect consistently and had to sell everything I owned just to stay in the real estate business, or go out and find a job. You know the story, NO consistent prospecting = NO sales.
Anyways, something wasn’t sitting right with me as I looked around the real estate industry. Agents were failing left and right and I felt leadership was doing nothing about it…or maybe they weren’t doing the right things to support agents.
The result is that I develop a competitive advantage over real estate agents. See, I am not a real estate agent. I am a business person who happens to sell real estate. That mindset shift is unbelievably powerful.
I approached the manager of a large real estate company I had gone to work for and asked if I could take on the training of the new and struggling agents and in return receive a portion of their future commissions…
while operating my real estate sales business. No brainer to pay me a percentage of dollars that were not currently showing up.
Fast forward, things went really well and word got out. A real estate company approached me about opening a start-up office and things continue to go really well. I discovered real quickly the three secrets to growing a productive and profitable real estate company and that’s when I recognized my passion for leadership and that the single most critical responsibility of any leader is to attract, develop, inspire and retain quality talent.
My main focus is to help get YOU productive agents to join your team and never leave you! It is actually simpler than it sounds. You are probably overcompensating things or aiming for the wrong target.

If you aren’t familiar with my story, I was dead broke as recently as 2007. I mean literally, nothing in the bank and I couldn’t pay my rent.

My purpose here is to help you get there much faster than I did by helping you model our successes and avoid our failures. There is a proven path, but I will be the first to tell you, that the struggle cannot be entirely circumvented. It can only be shortened.
Over the course of my eleven years, I hired a multitude of coaches, consultants, and found mentors wherever possible. I read every article I could find online. I flew across the country to visit top producers at their office and took ferocious notes so I could implement their best practices. I masterminded with some of the highest producers in the nation. I devoured business books like there was no tomorrow. I traveled across the country attending every real estate conference you can think of, many of them just adding to the confusion, distractions, and expense of figuring out what truly works and what doesn’t.
The result is that I develop a competitive advantage over real estate agents. See, I am not a real estate agent. I am a business person who happens to sell real estate. That mindset shift is unbelievably powerful.
The best part is that this is 100% teachable and can be implemented by anybody driven enough to do it. This is what I want to share with you.
